Co-Create. Collaborate. Illuminate.

Bird City Improv contracts experienced teaching artists to facilitate our courses and workshops. As a part of our Play It Forward initiative, all teaching artists are paid a competitive commission, reflecting our belief in pay equity and hope for sustainability in the arts. These fine folx are powerful artist and leaders who offer a diverse range of experiences, centering the wisdom of BIPOC, queer, and femme people in the learning space. Blue Cavell-Allette

Blue is an interdisciplinary artist and a professor at Morgan State University, teaching foundational and applied improv. She is a founding member of Casually Dope and Cakewalk. She is a passionate advocate for equity and outreach to support Black improvisers.

Ann Altar

Ann Altar (she/her) is a visual artist and performer who is passionately curious about the world around her. She believes that all living beings deserve respect and autonomy, and hopes to empower other through her work.

Kim Scarfe

Kimberly (she/her) is an improviser of the world, having lived in Los Angeles, London, Singapore and Des Moines. She is now the Education Director for the Baltimore Improv Group and believes improv is an art form that can heal.

Talya Tavor

Talya Tavor (she/her) is an activist, writer, musician, improviser; a right-brainer. Talya is an experienced facilitator. She has trained thousands of people across the United States to launch activist campaigns. She has a dog named Mia Lettuce.

Tashika Campbell

Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, Tashika (she/her) is a founding member of the award-winning troupe Cake Walk and performs with the dramatic improv team Dreamweaver. She is a coach, teacher and workshop facilitator.

Tavish Forsyth

Tavish (he/they) is a professor of applied improvisation and the Artistic Director of BCI. Believing improv to be a visionary art form, he offers experiences that are queer and playful, inviting folx to step into their creative power

and change with the change.
